Gorgeous young Priorat red wine from Meritxell Pallejà, a young woman with a great future. After her formal enology studies, Meritxell worked under the renowned wine producer Alvaro Palacios, her illustrious neighbour in the Priorat (producer of l'Ermita, Dofi, Camins del Priorat). Meritxell began producing limited editions of her Nita red wine, named after her grandmother, in 2004 and since then has consistently achieved a high degree of quality.

"Ask Rene Barbier or Alvaro Palacios who the best young winemaker in Priorat is and I think I know what they will tell you. While they came to this region to make Priorat a wine on par with the best of France, Maritxell is set to make Priorat on par with the best of her modern, free-thinking generation and the best in the world. She is doing so with a philosophy that would have seemed heretic a few years ago – Biodynamic and no oak (almost unheard of in Priorat), no sauce, no over-done clown shows yet somehow the wine is still just as extracted, deep and full of the intense soil tone that this region has become synonymous with."

Cherry red colour, with a fragrant nose of undergrowth, spice, red fruits (we detected a hint of cherry or strawberry). It's silky-textured, succulent, medium bodied and well-balanced in the mouth. Dry finish.

Nita has the Priorat region's characteristic minerals yet reveals the dense fruits of the old-vine Garnacha and Cariñena.

Note: This wine really benefits from decanting, so open early and enjoy later.
